Current levels of obesity in Scotland require concerted action from a range of stakeholders including the catering sector. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of implementing and evaluating a 12 week work-site price incentive intervention to promote healthy eating in 4 canteens. The intervention will combine healthy eating choices, promotional material and price incentives in order to disrupt ’less healthy’ food choices and encourage repeated healthy eating uptake. Caterer and consumer perceptions about design and acceptability will be collected by interview and focus group discussions. Data on reported food choices, changes in nutrient and food intake, perceived acceptability and lunchtime spend will be collected by pre-and post intervention questionnaires. Caterers will also report changes in purchases of an indicator set of foods. The results will be used to inform the design of a definitive RCT on the impact of a work-site healthy eating price promotion intervention on dietary intake.
