As the size of the older population increases, maintaining people in their own homes is an important policy objective in terms of both the quality of life of older people and the costs of their care. Informal (non professional) carers are an important source of care provision but relatively little is known about how the supply of such care might respond to alternative payment systems. This feasibility study will use a structured questionnaire survey of households, with at least one individual aged 65 years or over, carers or potential carers to identify preferences for and responses to alternative payment systems.
